A missile defence system, used in an attack

Let us imagine that an American nuclear defence system is not only possible but is already functional and is very effective.

We are a long way from this picture as the current system is about as accurate as the Patriot missiles that failed to hit Saddam’s Scud firework display. Nevertheless as more research and testing occurs the new system will improve and might even deliver on the promise. When this occurs and the system is in place here in Australia and in position in Poland, what America will actually achieve is a solution to mutually assured destruction.

For nearly half a century MAD kept the world on the brink of nuclear war without the slightest risk of anyone being reckless enough to twist the keys enter the codes and push the button, but once this new defence system is in place a different scenario emerges.

In this development America will have the power to knock out enemy missiles before they leave enemy airspace. This means that the power of enemy’s bombs can also be used against the attacker.

Imagine, it’s their own missiles that are intercepted and detonated in the their own airspace, they attacked therefore they are responsible for their own destruction . That’s the defence systems job whilst America can simultaneously launch a retaliatory strike to really wipe out any future threat.

This scenario would leave China, Russia, Korea, India, Pakistan or France a smouldering mess, which can’t be done from either Poland or Australia using the defence systems currently in development. The system needs to be close enough to intercept before the missiles reach orbit so I think a few more sites need to be found before it’s truly a global defence system.

However there is a far more likely scenario, a scenario that fits in quite nicely with current US foreign policy.

Launching a pre-emptive strike against any nation that competes with America for resources is far more likely to be rewarding and cost effective.
Iraq only became a target of pre-emptive war because, sanctions were going to be lifted and Saddam had plans to sell oil to China, and trade in any other currency except the US dollar. A policy of unspeakable insult, enough to provoke an illegal war which signed Saddam’s own death warrant and caused the deaths of millions since the Gulf war began in 1990.

In this scenario however the US will find it easier to knock out the customers of energy resources rather than the suppliers. This will keep the flow of energy intact while its competitors are shattered. A pre -emptive strike whilst knocking out retaliatory action will save American lives, billions of dollars and secure depleting resources, it’s a wonder why no one has written about this before.

A double whammy of a defence attack strategy, instantly incinerating the evidence that America struck the first blow and making it clear to any other potential threat that the system can target them unless absolute obedience is shown in response to all future US demands.

.This new age modern war tactic is the answer to current US attack forces being deployed overseas to ensure the safe recovery of natural resources. In this strategy depleted armed forces can be deployed to take on the task of turning back the tide of environmental and radioactive refugees
