International furniture giant IKEA ("shorty" for Mr Ivar KEmprAd, the sole owner) has taken loose-mouth Liberal backbencher Don Randall to task over his claims Mr Howard shouldn't have to buy the chain's "dodgy" chairs instead of spending $200,000 on plush seating.
What do you call a chair at $3,125.00 a pop? "Plushy" maybe?
The IKEA Australia manager, Mr Nordin says its products are good enough for Sweden's King and Queen and many Nordic diplomatic missions around the world.
Labor is demanding Howard explain why he chose to spend $200,000 on 64 chairs for the cabinet and other rooms when much cheaper options were available.
Liberal's Randall asked: "Do you really want him to go off to IKEA and get his allen key out and put together a heap of dodgy chairs for people to sit on?"
Ikea said if the issue was about Mr Howard having to assemble the chairs there was help at hand. At a small fee of course...
The IKEA TEST..... People unable to pass this simple practical test of basic human dexterity can ask friends or relatives for assistance, or IKEA can offer professional assistance at a resonable fee. Nobody, however able need to miss out on IKEA furnishings!
"We can even offer him an assembly service if he doesn't feel confident enough to put together the furniture himself."
