NSW: Six arrested under new family breakdown laws
by Drunk as a Skunk

If police have to bust people then just leave the kids argument out of it because it's just ignorant and wrong to use people's children to get back at them or to warn others.

Six people have been arrested in Sydney after their children were allegedly found in houses where hydroponic cannibis was being grown.
So what does this mean? Now they take the kids into custody as well because they were alleged to have somehow been put into some danger that police say?
What if their parents were home alcohol brewers would they be taken into custody by the police as well? No! There is a difference between the two products because one is legal and the other is not.
Cannabis herb doesn't kill either but alcohol does? Alcohol causes the most deaths. Children are in more danger of thinking that alcohol is good for them in this country, why is that? If alcohol is more likely to actually kill them at least before cannabis herbs would then why were these children alleged to be in danger? If the house was being renovated that same danger would exist. Why would they put their children in danger? Did they?
But police raided seven homes allegedly used to grow hydroponic cannabis.
During the operation they found six children who had been sleeping in houses at Cabramatta, Fairfield, Bonnyrigg, Guildford and Smithfield.
Their parents, three men and three women, have been charged under new laws that carry a maximum penalty of 24 years in jail.
Police also seized more than 1,000 cannabis plants with an estimated street value of almost $5 million.
The South-West Police Commander, Frank Mennilli, says some of the children were sleeping just metres away from the plants.
"Not only do you have the odour from the cannabis plants, but you also have the chemicals that are used in relation to the growth of these plants," he said.
"You also have a number of risks attached to hydro houses through the high use of electricity."
Mate I had the odour from the brewery down the road and there was nothing I could do about the hops all day and every afternoon walking home from work. I also walk past the coffee bean shop and had the very same experience what about that? In other words so what?
You also have the police and PR propaganda with the threat of 24 years jail, and at the same time, killing the chickens to scare the monkeys. But what happens to these families? And who pays for all these 24 year jail terms?
I don't see it as any kind of alleged child protection racket either it's simply another way of enforcing the law but certainly an ignorant and expensive one for taxpayers.
Come on at least be honest there is no difference in the danger of a private home whether you'd be cooking or fixing or any other means of using the home where there are dangers. What about where there are private businesses doing other more dangerous things? Like Go Karts down the back yard? People using nitro to fire engines etc.
If police have to bust people then just leave the kids argument out of it because it's just ignorant and wrong to use people's children to get back at them or to warn others.
I'd say 9 times out of ten these children were being cared for as all parents do. Law enforcement should not be using the children to make some type of threat or example to others that they too will lose their children and be locked up for the term of their children's childhood if they get caught growing cannabis herbs at home.

Study reveals meth plague among young Aussies, but not an alcohol plague? New statistics on drug use show Australians are the biggest users of ecstasy and methamphetamines in the English-speaking world. But what about amongst the biggest drinkers in the english speaking world? The Australian Institute of Health and Welfare report says one in five Australians aged in their 20s has tried methamphetamines. But the community says just about every Australian aged in their 20s has tried alcohol. Australia is ahead in tackling smoking, with the fourth lowest rate in the developed world. Since 1985, the number of daily smokers has reduced by 40 per cent. But the number of drinkers has gone up! Sorcerer: http://www.abc.net.au/news/newsitems/200704/s1895029.htm
So what about the smoking and drinking plague? Bad luck about the alcohol? How do we rate? Smoking cigaretts kills more people than all those drugs put together. Perhaps if we deal with the real plague amongst young Aussies then we can deal with the rest? So we need to start with corporatocracy first! http://melbourne.indymedia.org/news/2007/04/143188_comment.php#143451

Prohibition - Nothing Has Changed Taken from various websites with my comments. WEBSITE: In the late seventeenth century, the Reverend Increase Mather, probably the most influential Puritan minister of his time, said that alcohol was "a good creature of God" and that man should partake of the gift without abusing it. His son, being a little more concerned about drinking, encouraged people to set a good example by not getting drunk. (which is still drug abuse, so they were really saying the same thing). http://sydney.indymedia.org.au/node/50557

Police in our community and responsible ethanol drug dealing? Considering that the Drug Ethanol is a proven cancer causer, and that we sent (one month ago) ethanol and cancer information to Cr. Rod McKelvey, so that he could address this important issue, we find it quite insulting that no mention has been made when it comes to this drug and cancer, or about psychosis, schizophrenia, dementia, diabetes, central nervous system damage, organ damage, neuro-toxic poisoning, alcoholic hepatitis, pellagra, foetal alcohol syndrome, anti-social personality disorder, amygdaloid syndrome (to lose control of one’s rage response) etc. etc. etc. There wasn’t even a mention, anywhere, that ethanol was a DRUG! The drug dealers didn’t mention it; the police didn’t mention it; our drug Advocate - who printed the article - certainly didn’t mention it. Why should they? They get their money by advertising and advocating the drug ethanol. http://sydney.indymedia.org.au/node/50502
