Police move street traders mp3
by martin Tuesday April 10, 2007 at 10:25 AM

Counter culture warfare by the back door.

http://media.libsyn.com/media/nimbinradiomedia/police_moving_street_traders.mp3

Public meetings held on Easter Sunday in the local neighbourhood center, nobody knows about, by shadowy un-accountable un-elected people deciding for the whole community what is best for us -
Does the police run our businesses now?
Lots of questions yet to be answered -
The colorful street trade is THE main attraction of the village. If that element gets removed, Nimbin indeed will lose its main income, tourists spending considerable dollars while in Nimbin. Legal foods, drinks, accomodation, bakery, general store buys, hotel, entertainment, the list is long enough to claim that almost every business needs the tourist dollar to stay open.
We are puzzled.

ACMA links Alan Jone...

The Sydney radio station 2GB and its breakfast host Alan Jones have been found to have breached the commercial radio code by broadcasting material that was likely to encourage violence, in the lead-up to the Cronulla riot.

hey parrot press
by me Tuesday April 10, 2007 at 06:39 PM

what the fuck has your comment got to do with the original story? Why have you posted it here?

Are you so self absorbed as to hijack the comments of a story that has nothing to do with what you are posting about? For fucks sake.

What the bad luck....?
by Parrot Press Tuesday April 10, 2007 at 10:26 PM

What the bad luck have you got to do with this comment?

At least both posts are from NSW, so get lucky, you lucky idiot?

And he tipped his hat and said....

Happy motoring.....

Now seriously, have you ever heard of zero hold?

"-" 0 "+"

Some people get out of bed at "-" and there expectations are too low_

Some people get out of bed at "+" and there expectations are too high!

Other people get out of bed at 0 with no expectations at all.

Then they don't set themselves up for a fall like you man'y?

So get lucky next time and realise that we here are all on the same side 'issues' are 'issues' at the Indymedia telegraph.....especially if they originate from the same STATE.

Turd link?
by Arthur Stargatt Tuesday April 10, 2007 at 10:35 PM

Alan Jones once took a crap in Nimbin. Which is one thing more than I aspire to.

Does that count?

the comments are for discussing the article. If you have something totally different to say, why not post a new story?

seriously, theres plenty to discuss about this. post. Did you even download the mp3 and listen?

It sure beats your constant copy and paste from the abc. Parrot press indeed. In fact, this story is the best one I've seen on indy in quite some time. Grass roots reporting, real people telling it from the street. And all you can do is insult it by talking about some mainstream brainwash.

Grass and Roots
by Parrot Press Wednesday April 11, 2007 at 07:38 AM

Everyone works hard and I post plenty not just ABC.

I put it to you that my comment is just as worthy as your complaint. Also my comment is my comment not your comment. You don't dig?

==========================

You say, "The comments are for discussing the article. If you have something totally different to say, why not post a new story?

==========================

Is this space only for you whinging? For your whinging?

Who made a more constructive use of the space I made my comment at?

So if your winging gets a 2 then my post comment must get at least a 5.

What is it man do you want my comment space? If you want my comment space then I want yours!

Where is it written how the comment should be? What it should or shouldn't be about? Or where the comment should be?

If I wanted to post an article I would have but why waste the space here?

Especially for a cross-post!

Yes I listened to the program and I've even promoted it on many occasions!

Why do you think the comment was made? To destruct the article? To grab your attention away from the article?

I take it that that is what you think. However, I made the comment here because it was the most appropriate place and constructively....to get the word out....and in relation to the article I told you goose that it was NSW issue.

Did you know that people can take in more information about the real issues in the world than one issue at one time?

You did not comment about the article? Why was that? All you did by coming here yourself is whinge about how it ought to have been for you!

Like I said you set yourself up for a fall perhaps everywhere you go because your expectations are either too high or too low.

And what someone else has done to you?

How does your comment rate? Take a look in the mirror and give us a rundown?

What new information did you bring besides your whinging about how things didn't go your way?

If you want a babysitter then go find one because I'm too busy.

Actually
by Mel Wednesday April 11, 2007 at 07:49 AM

I think people should be allowed to 'sell' 'give' their comments anywhere they want even if someone owns the 'subject' 'shop' or the 'original post' 'article'.

What do you reckon me? Make a new law?

Perhaps we should call the police?

just my opinion
by me Wednesday April 11, 2007 at 08:14 AM

I just know that I would be pissed if i posted a story and then people posted comments that were totally nothing to do with it.

For fuck sake parrot press, a crosspost no less.

Have some respect for the author of the article.

Your logic is weird.

My logic
by Parrot Press Wednesday April 11, 2007 at 09:01 AM

Don't you have a mirror? What did I tell you about my precious time? I'm not your babysitter! Your problem is that you don't take any constructive feedback that is why you spend all your time whinging and not doing.

on topic
by man on the street Wednesday April 11, 2007 at 04:21 PM

There is a guy who sells all antique tins on the street in St.Kilda. Not that I have a thing for old tins, but its good to know he's there, in case I ever need one.

People should be able to sell stuff on the street. It seems like the shop owners are just getting nasty because of their high taxes. They want the Nimbin consumer market share to themselves probably.

They do it everywhere
by Con Wednesday April 11, 2007 at 04:36 PM

This is just their way to say my way or the Highway. They'd be in fear of losing customers and so if you don't buy in the shop then you don't buy.

Best thing would be to get rid of shops and open market places for everyone!

It's supposed to be a free market!

I'm working on Alan!
by martin Thursday April 12, 2007 at 09:32 AM

I thank everyone for their contributions, grumpy, or gregarious, thank you.
"Al Chrislamo Fascist Jones" is already on the chopping board, so please exercise a bit of patience dear 'parrot press'. And as far as opinions go - they are still free, hey!
Nimbin businesses have an agreement with the trader in front of their shop. Those who don't like a trader in front have no hassles - there's no-one there. All in all the local businesses are not behind the action, dear 'man of the street'. The rest of you had 'your satisfaction in commenting out of your personal insecurity realm of hit and slay, erhm, I meant copy and paste - for all the other commentators, I thank you for your interest, we may one day meet personally in the concentration camp, and then can yak a few jokes from the good ol days as now.
Scan Dot Org - from the people, for the people.

No it wasn't a hurry up Martin
by Parrort Press Thursday April 12, 2007 at 10:02 AM

It was an event. Events happen and the provision of current news prevails on the newswire. Go with the flow. Like a reed in a river bends to let the flood water go through. Like sea water moving in an around the rocks and crevices to make way for the crabs.

No hurry up at all. Jolly good show old bean!
