Thursday, February 22, 2007: 10 arrested by violent thugs as Cheney protesters gather in Sydney
 policeviolence1.jpg, image/jpeg, 450x257
According to ABC News, ten people have been arrested in Sydney during the War Criminal Welcoming Party for US Vice-President and chronic warmonger Dick Cheney. About 250 people were protesting peacefully against the Iraq war and the treatment of David Hicks when they decided to march...
NSW Deputy Police Commissioner Terry Collins had refused to allow a march on the grounds that it would cause unacceptable disruptions to people and traffic in the central business district. However the march did not go very far, as there were dozens of police at Town Hall. Police lined up two-deep to stop the protesters getting to George Street.
A heavy-handed police presence, including officers mounted on horseback, ringed the protesters in an attempt to disrupt the demonstration, some of whom also squabbled with the peaceful citizens. According to the ABC ten people were arrested.
Cheney will be the most senior American visitor to Australia since President George W. Bush addressed the joint houses of parliament in Canberra in 2003. On Saturday, Cheney will talk to Prime Minister John Howard on the US Administration's decision to send a new "surge" of 21,000 combat troops to Iraq.
Cheney, 66, will also meet the leader of the opposition Labor Party, Kevin Rudd, who has pledged to withdraw Australia's 550 combat forces from Iraq. "This war in Iraq represents the single greatest failure of Australian national security policy since Vietnam," Rudd said late on Wednesday.
Cheney's visit comes at an awkward time for Howard, who has slumped to his lowest opinion poll rating in six years, fuelled in part by public opposition towards the war in Iraq and anger over the fate of Australian drifter and former kangaroo hunter from Adelaide, David Hicks, who was captured in Afghanistan with the Taliban in 2001 and handed over to US soldiers. Hicks who has been jailed in Guantanamo Bay for over five years without charge or trial.
A recent opinion poll revealed that nearly 70 percent of Australians either want an immediate pullout from Iraq or at the very least for the government to set a date for troop withdrawal.
Last week, the government agreed to host a ground station for a US military satellite communications system on a remote stretch of desert coastline in Western Australia.
"We think it is time for Howard to say enough's enough to the man who more than anyone is responsible for creating the Iraq disaster on the basis of distorted intelligence and inflated dreams of remaking the Middle East," declared The Sydney Morning Herald in an editorial on Thursday this week.
There will be a protest Friday outside the five-star Shangri-La Hotel, where Cheney will give a speech on US-Australian relations.

These are PNAC protest rules. That means attacks by barbarians and gladiators.
We need shields and swords!
That's a joke son!
The police should be ashamed of themselves.
Why are police using violence against unarmed people?
A very deep and sincear question for the Lib/Lab PNAC voters and the powers that be and claim to be teaching the population how to be non violent.
Leaders should lead by example not teach others how to use violence!
Don't vote for thugs!

My god Elliot, I was astounded by the images of extreme police violence in your post. I was particularly alarmed at the image of the violent police standing in a line looking at the backs of the protesters - very violent stuff indeed! Get a life sook........

You can't march because of traffic disruption!! Please - credible lies only. Cheney's motercade from the airport had traffic banked up on both sides of the bridge.

Democracy
by Che

If we live in a democracy we should able to speak our minds if we see something not quite right. The problem some times is that you get individuals who don't like protesters and if it wasn't for the protesters , you will not have workers rights , consumers rights , single mothers rights , and many rights today that we actually are taken for granted protesters have been around for long time . But since this great country has decided to become a de-facto state to the U.S and some of its citizen have the same thought because they don't want their interest rates to go up and rather watch Big Brother on Tv and have no life and the gray matter which is in their head is not operational. And they just go to work like sheep from 9 - 5 and let them selfs to be screw up the backside by some foreign company who want to privatize the public sector and create a society of idiotcrasy thinking. And aloud to be told that the terrorist are under your bed like in the 50's when the reds were under your bed , people don't see the manipulation of their minds and the fear this leaders put on peoples hearts and mind. It takes great courage to walk out and asked for justice and fairness like many did examples sister Rose ,Martin Luther King , Gandy. And if we aloud this to happen when some of us wake up from a deep sleep we will asked what happen and some of us we will say sorry mate you were asleep , your gray matter was floating in beer and Big Brother episodes and Australian star. We will loose everything in time they won't take in one bite it will go bit by bit like now if you care to find out and see where the world is heading into. When you drive at high speeds one day you will hit a wall , light post run over some one. Look the other way you may as well have nothing to live for and hope for in life and aloud corporations to take everything . Unless you are one of them and you are happy for them to screw you and your children children then don't say nothing at all unless is positive.

i remember the good ol' days when protesters outnumbered the pigs .. on both days the NSW police outnumbered the protesters ... the heart may have survived but the numbers haven't ... would've been impossible for the pigs to outnumber demonstrators in the 60's ... protest was integral to the pop culture...

Unfortunately violent police, hitting people over the head, running them down with horses and arbitrary arrest is why some people have decided not to show up for protests.
Bad effort by the authorities to quell dissent.
Get your facts right aye!
Left wing communism - an infantile disorder

Maybe a few more gutsy people at the demo would dissuade the police. Remember people with courage don't bow down to gurus of any variety. When sectarian idiots split the left it helps the police. You need to go back and read instead of sucking arse. Good job Trots. All you have is gutless tosspots.

Two wrongs don't make it right.
In fact people who promote violence which is a lethal meme sometimes have arteria motives.
Like for instance: infiltrating the left for the right wing ideology that that gives the authorities to make new laws and claim the protesters are thugs.
And old false flag trick.

"...would've been impossible for the pigs to outnumber demonstrators in the 60's ... protest was integral to the pop culture..." (memories by fart Saturday February 24, 2007 at 04:17 AM)
Useless old buggers like you have brought it about, don't you see? You've sat back and voted ALP, got rid of universal free tertiary education, stuffed medibank, exported uranium, consumed USAmerica pop - gobbled it, snorted it. Consumed. Bloody hell, have you. Sucked it all up, while...
raised your kids proper, to climb the corporate rungs, driven them all over town and waited for them while they play in nice community sandpits and introduced them to other kids and got them all to play respect values, and you freak out that their private public school might be not up to the mark - you know standards are so important. And when you stop driving them the fuckers leave school and go to Gallipolli - not the Turk POW horror camps - and consume far better than you know how. And they learn around year 10 in bloody SOSE (because you got rid of history because the ladder feet are somewhere else), or Amglish that there was a 60's. They "study" Gow's play "Away" (1986?? believe it) and know from that, and from you, that the whole 60's - Vietnam, Kent State, Wollongong, Paris 68 - kinda all passed away as does a holiday.
You bought it. The sell out. End of season sale. Lay back and chill. Your no interest terms.
So what did the kids - yes it started with kids - then real unionists, then old ladies - do in Paris last year? What happened when for months all over the country the protesters outnumbered the pigs. Brought the French government ( you think Lib/Lab is bad! - no single ecole for apparatchicks here - yet) to their knees. Pulled the laws. Told BIG Business to butt out, they weren't USAmerican. No bank owns them. Kept real wages, pensions, schools, healthcare, respect, liberty, equality, fraternity, and showed, like the 60's, how it can be done.
But little coverage here. And your kids are watching next season jag by broadband, or secret cuts, and suicide repeats.
They know Paris. Paris 06 not.
Popping the culture is integral to protest.
No faulty memory mine. Those days ahead.
Only one way to stop it here

A GENERAL STRIKE UNTIL ALL THE DESPOTIC LAWS AND DOWNGRADED SOCIAL SERVICES ARE PUT BACK TO WHERE THEY WERE PRIOR HOWARD AT LEAST!
If that doesn't happen then we're just waiting for a catastrophe!
That's not violent - that is abandonment.
Abandonment is the least likely to be attacked by despots.
But that won't happen until the fiscal dollar has nose dived IMHO into a depression. We only have about a year or so to wait according to the latest.
it is very worthwhile to listen to this:

Hicks will serve sentence in Aust if found guilty: Cheney
by Parrot Press
Saturday February 24, 2007 at 04:34 PM
United States mass murderer and torturer Vice-President, Dick Cheney, says it has already agreed that if found guilty, Guantanamo Bay detainee David Hicks will serve his sentence in Australia and time he has already served in Guantanamo Bay would be taken into account.
============================
What is that the consolation prize? Or a John Howard concession for the election! He's not going to be found not guilty by the authorities and the powers that be, so why the if? Cheney needs to be locked up right away the man is insane. He's offered nothing. If David was tried in a criminal court of law with the proper standards then Cheney may incur yet another serious charge. If he's not tried in an Australian court or cannot be then he's not guilty therefore they owe him 5 years! What right have they got to lower the standards of the courts to find a person guilty?
Only the powers that be! If only the powers that be are the law then we are all doomed! Demand Justice!

America's Silent Holocaust, Holocaust Victim Wants Australian Passport

USA -- A nightmare state
I, an American, who was forcibly injected, jailed, beaten, and likely raped while knocked unconscious for reporting what I knew about USA government money laundering in the federal banking regulatory industry want either one of two things.
I want a citizenship in a nation not controlled by beasts like those controlling the United States, or I want a 1000 or more nuclear warheads detonated in the United States to relieve us of our suffering.
The wealthy who control the USA may not be Americans. There is a technological war waging. One bank examiner for the FDIC, a director, was killed in his office in the early 90's and labeled suicide. I, a FDIC bank examiner was attacked and almost killed in 2001 after leaving the agency.
Now EADS is coming to my home town and the government beats me at their doors.
If someone would have hung Bush and made Cheney repent, then we would have had some good entertainment and some justice down under.
Keep up the good work bloaks. I will be floating in on a dinghy with a little Debbie cakes soon.
