ADA defends security despite rocket launcher theft
by Not your ABC Tuesday February 06, 2007 at 10:43 AM

"There were all these hysterical stories a couple of weeks ago about military armouries being open to terrorists and it just wasn't true," he said.

ADA defends security...

The Australia [War] Association (ADA) says it is confident security at military bases is adequate, despite confirmation a rocket launcher which was sold on the black market had been stolen from the Australian [War] Force (ADF).

Last month New South Wales police charged a man with selling seven rocket launchers and authorities are still looking for six of them.

Allegedly a [War] audit yesterday revealed that the weapon was removed from war force stock, but it is not known when or where it was stolen.

[But more questions than answers if you ask me!]

Neil James from the ADA says until that has been established it would be wrong to jump to too many conclusions.

"It's never good when weapons like this are in the hands of criminals and it's good that the police are doing something to stop this occurring and the military are doing all they can to stop any more being stolen," he said.

"But the circumstances in which this one was stolen 17 years ago still aren't known and there shouldn't be too much speculation until we get some more detail."

Police Minister John Watkins says the news confirms what he has believed for some time.

"At last the Federal Government fesses up and admits that they don't have control of their assets in defence [war] establishments," he said.

"The truth is now out there and we see the extent of the Federal Government's duplicity over the theft of military weapons.

"Despite our call on the Federal Government to take immediate action of the theft of rocket launchers it's taken the Defence [War] Minister Brendan Nelson until today to admit responsibility."

Mr James says the weapon was stolen years ago and has accused Mr Watkins of exaggerating the significance of the theft.

"There were all these hysterical stories a couple of weeks ago about military armouries being open to terrorists and it just wasn't true," he said.

=============================

17 years ago aye? Well that was a long time ago? What happened to the other alleged 6 as reported anyway? And when were they stolen?

Another scapegoat or two bite the dust!

The AFP are carrying out a joint investigation with ASIO and New South Wales Police to try and track down six more rocket launchers that are believed to have been stolen. [four years after the fact!]

Rahman's case has been adjourned until January 10.

But if true they don't know 'when' he says or 'where' they went missing so how can they be confident security at military bases is adequate? And when, was supposed to now be 17 years ago wasn't it?

And then there is this?

Any rocket launchers have come from overseas, says Minister.

Watkins "It's time for the Federal Government to shut the front door, we need their assistance to stop this military-style equipment coming into Australia, if in fact it is - and that's subject to a continuing police investigation."

So I reckon someone should fess up to all these lies and stop trying to set-up scapegoats who are already in prison. And stop terrorising the community for John Howard's war on terror!

And to stop manufacturing other fears about terrorists in Australia.

Recovered rocket launcher belonged to ADF

A Defence audit has revealed that a rocket launcher found in the possession of a New South Wales man was the property of the Australian Defence Force (ADF).

The weapon is one of seven rocket launchers that disappeared from the ADF.

Defence Minister Brendan Nelson says the audit found the rocket launcher was probably produced in Australia in about 1990 but was removed from Defence stocks "some years ago".

But he says it is not known from where or when the rocket launcher was stolen from Defence.

==============================

How do you believe liars? Is it just convenient?

In anycase if the rocket launcher did come from the war force then that is on John Howard watch. And asking people to be suspicious on the one hand but not being secure on the other, well? Because of slack security on military hardware - should mean that he's not going to secure your future? With or without his fear and suspicion public election campaign - and by keeping you living in fear based on false information - and just political tactics - is a criminal act - especially at taxpayers expense.

But what could we expect from a war criminal?

==============================

Man refused bail over rocket launcher charges, discrepancies?

Peter Debnam is also a 'chip off' the old neo-liberal rocket launcher 'war criminal', block, John Howard, who has a very good reason to hype up and generate fear in the community for an illegal and degrading war in Iraq. Sinister?

Another scapegoat or two bite the dust!

John Howard the rocket launcher and his AFP now lay the blame of lost rocket launchers on a scapegoat in custody. Typical propaganda to make himself look good. Again! But now there is a specific target and I strongly suggest it's John Howard's war on terror and how much of a boost he can give to his fear factor so he can continue war mongering!

Xenophobic rocket launcher, so why was it reported really?

Police say they are unsure if the claims, published in a 'Sunday newspaper', are true and they are now being investigated. [So why was it reported today by howard's 'abc' and the 'Melbourne age'?]

Homegrown war criminal's 'a serious problem in Australia'

Jump, scream, run and hide the muswims are coming to get you! Everywhere I turn there is another terrorist. I opened the sugar bowl this morning and there was a terrorist cockroach just waiting to get me, after stealing my sugar mind you. So we must be very alert and very alarmed. How else would a war criminal get re-elected after a holocaust and what looks like a third interest rate rise this year? Mostly, Howard's goals can only be attained, amongst other things, if he pushes race hate buttons and whilst you continue to live in fear.

Community Speaks Out: War Crimes

We just can't believe that the country would not support this, we say this for all Australia but we also say this for the International community and all those dead Iraqi people.

War criminal doesn't deserve to lead Australians

I think a lot of the responsibility lies with the Australian communities themselves and they need to rise to that responsibility here and take action.
