We have issued an invitation to members of parliament. A motion is being drafted to hand to one of the pollies & present it in parliament.

Reports received today from David's lawyers via the media are not good. David's mental & physical conditions have dramatically deteriorated. We need to get David back home. Five years is too long. Come & encourage other to join us on the day.

In the face of mounting opposition, Australian government backs new Guantánamo courts

“It is time for the 50,000 members of the profession—from High Court judges to articled clerks—to have the courage to withdraw their services for a day to make it clear to John Howard and Philip Ruddock that we are ashamed of them. Both of them obtained law degrees predicated on the belief in the presumption of innocence. They are a blight on the profession,” Birrell wrote.

Senior retired judge on legal abuse of Hicks

This paragon of the Legal and Business Establishment has made a scathing attack on the PM Howard approach to Hicks:

"About Stephen Charles

"Stephen Charles as a barrister practised in the areas of commercial and corporate law, constitutional law, banking and finance law. He became a Queen’s Counsel in 1975. He was chairman of the Victorian Bar Council from 1983 to 1985 and president of the Australian Bar Association from 1985 to 1986. He was a director of Macquarie Bank from 1985 to 1995, a member of the Victorian Corporate Affairs Advisory Board from 1987 to 1991 and the Commonwealth Administrative Review Council from 1989 to 1992. AUSTRALIAN PARLIAMENT MUST ACT BRING DAVID HOME

“Australians, across the political spectrum, are now demanding the release and repatriation of David Hicks and members of parliament must do all that is necessary to redress the travesty of justice that has seen this young Australian spend five years and two months in legal limbo,” Ms Obeid added.
