Our Perilous Modern Diets

Future generations will continue to pay a huge price for the low fat, unhealthy diets that are the fashion today.
It always strikes me as very odd that present day human beings are so sickly. Currently we are bombarded with health messages about the rising levels of obesity, diabetes and heart disease. But why is this so? Why are formerly strong and vigorous human bodies in such a state of decline today.
For a few years now I have been aware of the work of a Cleveland dentist named Weston A. Price who, in examining the mouths of his patients over sixty years ago, found nothing but rampant tooth decay associated with serious diseases such as osteoporosis, arthritis, diabetes, intestinal complaints and more.
But it was the mouths and teeth of younger patients that caused him greatest concern. Price saw that crowded, crooked teeth were becoming more and more common, along with facial deformities that took the form of overbites, narrowed faces, underdevelopment of the nose, lack of well-defined cheekbones and pinched nostrils. These children were frequently sick, suffered allergies, anemia, asthma, poor vision, and lack of coordination.
Weston A Price didn’t believe that humans need suffer such ill health and set about to understand why this was occurring in the 20th century.
His research took him to far away places where indigenous peoples still lived with little or no contact with the outside world. He travelled to isolated Swiss villages, and to a lonely isle off mainland Scotland. Traditional Eskimos and Indian tribes in Canada were also the subjects of Weston. A Prices’s research, as were Southsea islanders, Aborigines in Australia, Maoris in New Zealand, Peruvian and Amazonian Indians and tribesmen in Africa.
Price’s research records the physical perfection in these so-called primitive people where tooth decay was rare and dental crowding and occlusions did not exist. They exhibited great physical development and illness wasn’t an issue even among those living in physical environments that were extremely harsh. Weston A Price studied the diets of these people who were untouched by western influences.
Price began his travels in a Swiss village where the inhabitants lived on rich dairy products, dense rye bread, meat occasionally, bone broth soups and a few vegetables. There, the children went barefoot in frigid streams during weather and childhood illness was practically nonexistent. His attentions turned to the Eskimo diet, which was largely of fish, fish roe and marine animals, including seal oil and blubber. Such a diet meant that Eskimo mothers were able to produce one sturdy baby after another without suffering any health problems or tooth decay. In time he lived among the hunter gatherers in Canada, the Everglades, the Amazon, Australia and Africa where the people consumed game animals, particularly the parts that civilized folk tend to avoid--organ meats, glands, blood, marrow and particularly the adrenal glands coupled with a grains, tubers, vegetables and fruits that were available.
Weston A Price found that what gave these people their robust health were whole natural foods. These being meat with its fat, organ meats, whole milk products, fish, insects, whole grains, tubers, vegetables and fruit. They were not in touch with the modern diet that is loaded with white sugar, refined flour and rancid and chemically altered vegetable oils.
Price took samples of native foods home with him to Cleveland and studied them in his laboratory. He found that these diets contained at least four times the minerals and water-soluble vitamins--vitamin C and B complex--as the American diet of his day.
The diets of healthy native groups also contained at least ten times more vitamin A and vitamin D than the American diet of his day! These vitamins are found only in animal fats--butter, lard, egg yolks, fish oils and foods with fat-rich cellular membranes like liver and other organ meats, fish eggs and shellfish.
Such diets of these native peoples are totally contrary to what we are told to eat by the diet dictocrats of our time. Our world is one in which the entire orthodox health establishment recommends low saturated fat and food low in cholesterol. Such a world pays scant attention to the research of Weston A Price who warned about the dangers of sugar and white flour, and recommended butter.
One needs to understand that if the general populace were to know the truth of Price’s findings it would bring down America's largest industry--food processing consisting of its deathly refined sweeteners, white flour and vegetable oils. Over the last few decades, we have been fed the lie of the "lipid hypothesis"—which is the fallacious theory that saturated fats and cholesterol cause heart disease and cancer. We need to look to history to see how this is one big, fat, lie.
Butter consumption at the turn of the century was eighteen pounds per person per year, and the use of vegetable oils almost nonexistent, yet cancer and heart disease were rare. Today butter consumption hovers just above four pounds per person per year while vegetable oil consumption has soared--and cancer and heart disease are endemic.
What we have is the current situation where the consumption of these refined carbohydrates and vegetable oils cause imbalances in the blood which lead to an increased tendency to form blood clots, leading to myocardial infarction. Such an epidemic of heart disease was unheard of before the 1900’s.
In contrast to the traditional diets containing generous amounts of saturated fats, our western diets are based on the low fat dogma where vegetable oils have been substituted for animal fats. Refined carbohydrates form a major part of the western diet, the consumption of which leads us steadily and inevitably towards the unhealthy states of obesity and diabetes.
Thus, what we see today are children who are not strong in health and vigor, who suffer learning disabilities, and who are prone to infection and behavioral problems. Such diets lead to reproductive problems and even if conception is possible there are high chances of low birth weight babies being the result.
Future generations will continue to pay a huge price for the low fat, unhealthy diets that are the fashion today.

No Fluoride Then

Weston Price proved that diet is responsible for healthy teeth - not fluoride - so very long ago. Why is his research ignored? Organized dentistry does more for fluoridated toothpaste manufacturers by touting and promoting fluoride use than they do for the public who has no fluoride requirement.
Just like all drugs, fluoride has side effects. At 3 to 4 times what dentists tell us is optimal, fluoride can actually cause teeth to decay. However, your dentist has not been taught what fluoride's adverse health effects are or how to diagnose them. Yet, they have been dubbed fluoride experts. Odd.

Decayed teeth and decayed bodies

What Weston A Price was seeing was the result of the sugar and white flour, diet imposed on us all. Diets lacking in nutrients obviously showed up as decay of the teeth with the rest of the body displaying its decay as arthritis, diabetes and cancer and heart disease. Fluoride will not fix this tooth decay and will only add to the disease state of the already sick body. Fluoride is not needed and must be removed from our water supplies.

fluoride. Its all a conspiracy!
Just about every western population has fluride added to their water. Those that do not, like Brisbane have high levels of child tooth decay. If Dentists were just in it for the money they would champion the anti fluorid campaign. Dentists would benifit greatly if teeth were unprotected by the added chemical, but as it stands dentists have become artists sculpters and teeth cleaners in an age where sugar causes the greatest threat to teeth and regular brushing has become the defence.
There is no arguement that diets of highly processed foods sugar and trans fat are responcible for poor health. However to deliver the quantity and variety of foodstuffs presented in attractive packages the industry has evolved to deliver, on price, a smogasboard of choice.
The customer is now in the position to buy any combination of food with just 'add heat' instructions. The customer demands large quantities at cheap prices in attractive packages, the industry has delivered what the market wants.
If people wanted health food, dollar for dollar they would have to accept less in the trolly. The food would not be presented in colourful packets and it will take longer to prepare.
People, parents and children do not want health foods while good looking food is available. They want cheap food and that means they will accept what is bad for them knowing full well that medicine is being designed that will support them when they feel sick.
Its a stupid system, we cannot all be healthy in this society, but as individuals we can opt out, we can buy the expensive ingredients, become skilled in food preperation and safe guard our own health.
Why would we expect authority to protect us? The job of governments is to assist buisness and encourage economic growth. In all instances explained in the article governments have done there best to create customers for merchants and medicine in a billion dollar industry.
