Supporting the bikini protest
by lefty bikini wearer Wednesday December 06, 2006 at 06:54 PM

Why the left should be supporting the bikini protest

The left has had a knee-jerk reaction about the bikini protest. The bikini protest is being held to protest comments by Sheik Hilaly about women being 'uncovered meat' when they dress 'immodestly.'

The argument for not supporting the protest is that it is racist and being supported by right-wingers.

That the rally is being supported by right-wingers is not a valid argument. Right-wing nazis are pro-environmental, but that doesnt mean that we have to oppose everything they say.

As for being racist, Islam is a reactionary sexist religion. Just read the Koran. The Bible is a pile of crap too, by the way. But when Hilaly makes his comments about uncovered meat, it is quite appropriate to criticise.

I KNOW that Muslims are being targeted for terrorist investigations. That is because most terrorists are Muslims, in the same way that most criminals are men. Just check the prison statistics.

Rather than adopting the attitude of saying that every ethnic minority is morally superior, we should be condeming Muslim leaders and the Islamic religion for its racactionary and sexist teaching and practices. Just like we condemn the reactionary nature of every other sexist and reactionary religion and ideology.

The left should turn up in their bikinis - the guys we well.

A bit more thought needed, friend
by Sam Wednesday December 06, 2006 at 07:27 PM

"The Bible is a pile of crap too, by the way".

Thankyou for your erudite, incisive and thoughtful critical analysis.

Which part is the crappy one? The bit about smiting your enemies (Old Testament) or the bit about looking after the sick, oppressed, marginalised and defenceless (New Testament)?

Free David Hicks
by Cunning Stunts Wednesday December 06, 2006 at 10:36 PM

The march's organisers have decided to "cancel due to irresponsible journalism" ( http://thegreataustralianbikinimarch.wikispaces.com/ ).

You'd think that such proud bastions of free speech would not let a bit of adverse media get them down.

The IISC however have called for a community bbq.

Will the racsists make an appearance?

Will the Free David Hicks events also on December 9th e this Saturday around Oz get sidetracked into this stunt and counter - stunt. I hope not.

Jihad good - Sharia bad
by pr Wednesday December 06, 2006 at 10:49 PM

Jihad is good - Sharia is very, very, bad. Opposing so-called ' Sharia-law' is not a left/right issue...it's a right/wrong issue.

Oh, and btw ' Sam' - there is plenty of Old testament in the
' New' - and no matter how you slice it it's baloney.

Just my 2c.

"And there's a bikini because of the comments made about "uncovered meat". So, basically what we're saying is look, we're not changing, we're Aussies. We're not going to be covering up to avoid rape."

Says Christine Hawkins who is the march organizer.

It is fair enough. And why should you? You should be able to wear whatever the hell you want and I think the Mufti exposes himself as a sexist prick via his own projections.

Men are more easily violent towards women when they are treated as objects. So what institution plasters objectified representations of women thousands of times a day in all forms of media? Extremists. They give them awards.

Christine continues:

"We're actually going to be calling on the Government to bring in new citizenship legislation, so that extremists can be weeded out either coming into the country, or if they're here, get rid of them."

Good then. You can add advertising creatives to your list while you exercise the fascistic tendencies the hooligans in our government also love so much. Oh FUCK, now you made me think of Peter Costello in a bikini. FUCK FUCK FUCK!

The ranting of people like Costello and the Mufti as just political stuff they do to control the mind-body of the population.

"And that we're actually identified all the world for our beach culture, so it's a statement about maintaining our way of life through using the icon of beach culture."

Well take a can of spray-paint with you at least. It is an icon of subculture.

I disagree
by Miss S Thursday December 07, 2006 at 10:44 AM

"I KNOW that Muslims are being targeted for terrorist investigations. That is because most terrorists are Muslims"

Well that really depends on your definition of a terrorist doesn't it? To use an obvious example - how many Iraqis have died since the invasion of Iraq?

Another bikini wearing leftie
by Jem Thursday December 07, 2006 at 01:34 PM

The bikini protest is juvenile, inflammatory and designed to deliberately offend (just like this article).

It ignores the fact that a large number of Muslims do not support the Sheik's comments and puts further pressure on a community that is already under seige. Any person of intelligence would not give it the time of day.

don't frighten the horses
by AJ Friday December 08, 2006 at 11:17 AM

Oh dear Gem, you wouldn't want to "offend" anyone would you. Many in the muslim community opposes Sheik Hilaly's statements... yet the community is under siege so you can't protest against the statements of Sheik Hilaly...even though most muslims condemned it?

Bit hypocritical eh Gem? The right to offend and be offended is a democratic right. You're simply spreading inverted racism by saying that muslims can't handle being offended.

I suspect that the protest only offends the Hilaly's and the conservative old age muslims. The people who you are really supporting.

Skinhead response to Bikini march
by bill will Friday December 08, 2006 at 12:28 PM

this was posted on storm front nazi site in relation to this much...enjoy your solidarity with scum bag nationalist fucks

from http://www.stormfront.org/forum/showthread.php?t=342972

"Australian women should feel able to walk the streets of our nation without the fear of being assaulted or raped by some knuckle dragging raghead or assorted mudman.

"The issue of mud behaviour needs to be forced into the media spotlight! Events such as this march will force the media to focus on mud behaviour.

"The more events the more real Australians will hopefully feel comfortable about discussing their true feelings on the current mess we have with family, friends and workmates.

"If the muds retaliate, it will only reinforce the view that the muds are incapable of respecting others."

Two Piece Prattle
by kini Friday December 08, 2006 at 01:23 PM

So if you don't god wallop, don't do it in a bikini, don't agree with you, and if you find marching chicks bits in bikinis laughable organs for protest, then you must be a skinhead nazi. Is this feminazi logic? Yep, zero, I don't get it.

Agriculture feeds you three times a day, bikini or birka, by turning oil into food. Clothes all taste the same without an oil dressing, soon. You are going to have your twin set reset.

It sounds a bit disorganized and not very well thought out.

Try to think of a better reason for a bikini protest?

I understand why, but don't anyway.
by Simon Friday December 08, 2006 at 06:17 PM

This issue is dead already. Nobody is talking about it in the media or at 'barbecues'.

The guy's a dickhead.

Those who support him are dickheads. We all know that.

But a protest will just rejuvenate the issue in the media (which it doesn't deserve) and give this raghead tool publicity to which he is not entitled.

Stay at home and be nice to someone. Do something charitable for someone in need, but don't tell anyone you did.

THAT'S how we make this place better. Not by protesting like a pack of self-indulgent tools.

Remember the golden rule - it's not all about you.

God Bless.

You got me with that one, Vlad. Can't counter that incisive argument.

You win.
