Police attempt to stop "insurrection"
by Holly Saturday November 18, 2006 at 03:03 PM

Police organise to move on protestors from Exhibition St, quoting they are facing an "insurrection".

After over 100 demonstrators used bins, bottles, witches hats and other objects to smash all the windows of a large police vehicle, designed to imprison and transport many people; head cops informed police they were facing an "insurrection". A line of over 100 police then moved forward with large batons, shouting "move, move, move", pushing protestors back to the corner of Exhibition and Collins Streets.
The "Trannie Cops Bloc" / "Make Cops History" bloc are currently keeping the police under control, with doggy-style choreography to the song "who let the dogs out".

Report from the street
by Stevo Saturday November 18, 2006 at 10:25 PM

There was some fairly serious confrontation. What the ABC reports as an attack on the ANZ bank, was actually 3 of us sitting on the steps having a smoke.

They also didn't push us back to collins and exhibition - they were lined up along the corner of collins and exhibition, and they were pushed back by us, first to the corner of flinders lane and exhibition, and then we rounded them up and pushed them down flinders lane to a dead end at which they erected barricades and replaced the cops with riot cops.

One protester climbed the barricade and was physically beaten down by the cops onto their side and carried away, disappeared. The riot cop punched him repeatedly in the back until he fell down over their side. Riot cops were then pummelled with bottles, barricades shaken, and lots of confetti, strangely enough.

That's just a tad dramatic! Wonder what they'd do faced with an actual insurrection..
