Mexico on the brink of revolution?

Massive protests against electoral fraud, an uprising in Oaxaca which has seen the city centre occupied media outlets taken over and a campaign by the Zapitista's in Chiapas continues . Will the leftist tide and people power sweep all the way to the U.S. border?
With little coverage in the Australian press - the continuing social upheaval continues in Mexico. There is a real possibility that people power may bring the leftist and democratic tide all the way to the U.S. Border.
The leftist presidential candidate Obrador still refuses to concede defeat and is calling for a recount in the election he supposedly lost by 0.6 percent. He has rallied his supporters in demonstrations of millions and now thousands of supporters are camped in the centre of Mexico City and have began to blockade Government offices.
Meanwhile what began as an industrial dispute between the teachers unions and the Government in the State of Oaxaca has esculated into a massive occupation of the city centre in the capital of the State. Tens of thousands of teachers and supporters had been camping in the city centre before they were viscously attacked by police. A number of teachers were killed before the police were forced back.
Since then a social movement has formed which called an Assembly of the people and declared themselves the real Government of the State. Protesters have taken over first a commercial television station (when a march of woman banging pots and pans peacefully took over the station and began transmission). When the station was lost by the people - twelve commercial radio stations were occupied instead. Also massive barricades have been built to protect the occupation from further attack. A number of protestors have been killed by roaming thugs and police in drive by shootings but the protest continues.
Meanwhile the Zapatistas continue their struggle in Chiapas and their "Other Campaign" to unite civil society and the left in an effort to rewrite the constition of Mexico to overturn the capitalist system and redistribute wealth and power.
These simaltaneous struggles have brought Mexico to the brink of social revolution. Leftist Governments have spread from Venezuala, Boliviaa and to a number of other Central and South American nations. The U.S.A. would be desperate to not let Mexico on its border fall out of its sphere of influence. Read more about this dramatic struggle against neo-liberalism and empire going on in Mexico.
