On the Monday of the week in question - about 4 or so months ago? - I had an argument with Gary who had recently returned from Sydney to the NAP house. I'd cleaned the house in his absence - fed his dogs, etc... and as usual this was unappreciated and not reimbursed.

Gary was loaded to the gills on amphetamines (crystal meth) and at his arrogant worse. It was his rave on why Aboriginal people are undeserving of land rights - and an attack on Fiona, that left her in tears - that finally sparked a very heated argument. Afterwards it was decided I would leave on Thursday when my rent ran out.

I simply ignored Gary - as I wanted nothing to do with him anymore - still don't.

On Wednesday night I received a phonecall from a friend who told me Gary was going to call the Police if I didn't leave.

As I was leaving (happily) and had arranged a place to stay - I found this news totally bizarre.

I asked Gary about the call on Thursday morning - which he at first denied making. I told him I'd be gone that day. I thought that was the end of the matter.

Robert Inder-Smith then came around and started hassling me about when I was leaving. I said when I'm ready. I do not allow hate-filled bullies such as Inder-Smith to intimidate or dictate to me. Rob did not live at the house and I had nothing to explain to him.

Such control stuff - is typical cult behaviour. NAP couldn't just let me walk out on them. (Again) Not after challenging the 'Fuehrer' as Gary is called - even by his very small circle of friends.

It has ever been a point of contention with NAP. I'm no-one's disciple. I have walked out on them before. I've never needed them - but do try to support people having a go at the system.

I actually went around to move my stuff later - but then remembered I had promised to take a friend (Viki) shopping. It was raining and she doesn't have a car. So I left to pick her up and figured I'd move my gear afterwards.

So I'm in Woolworths (shopping centre) with Viki when I get a call from Fiona. She tells me - Rob is going to throw your stuff out if you don't move now.

Fi knew I was moving and where - but we had not told Gary where - as he was ringing my friends attempting to stop me finding a place to stay. I think in some weird way he thought I'd be forced to stay there.

Fi had told Gary and Rob I was moving later that day - but still Robert abused Fiona and made her ring me.

I said I'd be there later - I could not fathom any of this behaviour - then another call - more threats from Gary and Rob relayed by Fiona.

So I was threatened with violence to my property, if I didn't jump at Gary and Robert's commands. Despite telling both of them of my intention to leave that day.

That's the truth.

I asked Robert - What the problem was?

He said - No problem - He was on the phone.

Rather than bother with a drunk who despises me - I simply began moving my gear.

I was just glad to be leaving that very sick environment - I couldn't be bothered with anymore psychodrama.

I was absolutely shocked to the core - when about 10 minutes later a Police van arrived. Rob/Gary had rang them.

Perhaps they had hoped to set me up with the Police?

As soon as the Police arrived - Rob began taunting me. A real charmer.

Stuart Highway wasn't even there during the argument or when I arrived to pick up my stuff. Neither has he asked me what actually happened. So I don't know why he has become involved. Nor do I care. He has never been a member of DIM.

Fiona - Viki and others, who actually know what really happened, want nothing to do with Gary and Rob.

Gary's attempts to win me back since, with emails about court, etc... have been ignored. So much for his not wanting to work with me. This really is drug-ego-driven crap.

In fact - I have chosen to go to prison rather than appeal (and associate) with NAP. Which demonstrates how disgusted I was by my treatment that day from these people.

We just don't want anything to do with this cult, their paranoid delusions, or inability to cope with the consequences of their actions. Why would we - after such weirdness?

This DIM thing is typical of their (self) destructive/control freak behaviour.

When they were on the collective I was doing most of the work - including their NAP donation promos - while they were filling the DIM site with hate posts directed at me. Almost identical to the present ones. Nice.

Sure Gary's ill. I've helped him out a billion times. Visited him in hospital, etc... It doesn't mean I have to cop his speed-driven arrogance and attempts to control me.

We did try to spare him this.

I'm a very tolerant person (you don't live in a house full of IV drug users if you're not - I don't use) and have rarely used violence (self-defence) and the provocation from these people, particularly Robert, has sometimes been extreme.

The attacks on DIM at its inception - "bully" - "people scared to work with him", etc... can now clearly be seen to be NAP's work. Gary and Rob are not noted for their respect for other people's intelligence.

Gary is insufferably arrogant when on speed. I'm human and the incident Gary refers to - occurred years ago. After months of extreme provocation (trying to control me) and long before DIM's inception.

I've since dragged a cop off Gary (Assault Police for that) and helped him extensively in many other ways. It's all on record.

Gary has caused me far more grief - and has threatened me with violence -- through others of course.

Threatening to throw my stuff out of the house - and then calling the cops when he knew there was absolutely no need - was the last straw.

I have no problem with this. I'm telling the truth. Unlike Stuart - I was there.

And two of the collective (Fi and Viki) besides myself - know exactly what occurred.

David and Mindy (DIM collective) were also obviously aware of my plan to move to One Mile Dam community that day.

Our collective gave Gary a chance to explain his actions before he was expelled.

Unfortunately for Gary -- he can't get away with his lies in front of people who know the truth.

All he could say was - "If that's the way you want it".

- I built NAP's original web site - did most of their legal work - wrote most of their articles and was arrested 4 times due to NAP/PARIAH rallies.

I face four months in prison for supporting these people. People who used the cops to massage their damaged egos - at my expense - for no reason..

I have a right to disassociate from these people. So do the collective members.

I've seen Stuart a number of times since and there was never a problem. I doubt he even knows the truth.

We just want to get on with our work. We featured an article by NAP - despite all this crap and tried to prevent Gary and Rob from causing themselves more damage.

People who use the cops to assert control when none is needed - are just not trusted by activists here.

There is plenty I could add about why Gary and Rob were expelled. But I'm not a sadist.

I’ve just been reading all this stuff about Mick
Lambe. My name is Stuart Highway, I’ve lived a long
time in Darwin. I’m a NAP member, I’ve known Mick for
about 10 years. Let’s give it a rest, all this
arguing, we’ve all got more important things to do,
haven’t we? Mick is mad at Gary and NAP because we
threw him out of the NAP House in December because he
was impossible to live with and threatened Gary with
violence, after Gary had been in hospital, seriously
ill with HIV-related pneumonia. Yes, that’s right,
Gary has HIV-AIDS. He is not a well man! We ended up
calling the cops on Mick because Mick wasn’t leaving.
Nobody wanted to call the cops, but there was the
possibility of violence on Mick’s part. There had been
threats before, and there was the chance that he would
in fact carry out some violence, and we have computers
and other resources here which are owned by Territory
Users Forum. We didn’t want to risk any damage. Yes,
it was an ugly situation. Our relations with Mick had
at times been ugly before, for instance, when he lived
at the other NAP House at 19 Gilbert St. There, he
threatened to throw Gary through a plate glass window,
as he did at this house, 2 Stretton St.

Let’s not waste any more time and energy arguing
amongst ourselves. We have more important battles to
fight, against the system which is keeping us ALL
down! The cops must be rolling around laughing
watching us carry on like this. We have disagreements,
just like any other human beings throughout history.
So what! We have to work this out. Gary M and Rob I-S
need to be reinstated to the DIM collective. The
problem is Mick Lambe. He doesn’t seem to be able to
work well with other people. He wants to dominate
everyone and everything he’s involved with. He uses
threats and intimidation to get his own way. When DIM
was being established he scared away Ella McHenry and
other uni students involved. Ella said she wasn’t
prepared to put up with that level of abuse. So she
walked away from it, and Mick took control.

DIM is not a collective, it’s run by Mick Lambe, and
what he says goes.

Hi All,

it should be clear to all involved with the DIM
issue that the current PerthIMC installed DIM
collective were successful in manipulating PerthIMC
and those within the MIM and SIM collectives who
supported their decision to effectively sack the
legitimate DIM collective.

While - quite frankly - the
fact that Australia's only black majority IMC
collective were sacked in favour of a collective who
are clearly liars and frauds should have raised alarm
bells before it even happened, I am not interested in
playing the blame game and am willing to write this
episode off as being the result of lack of experience
dealing with pathological manipulators (which NAP etc.
clearly are).

I also have to say that I was more than
a little concerned at the fact that someone from the
MIM collective chose to hide the legitimate and
non-EdPol breaching post at

The important thing now is to correct this error.
I also think we all need to give serious thought as to
how this situation got as far as it did, and ensure
that something like this doesn't happen again.

Darwin Indymedia should now be handed back to
it's legitimate collective ASAP or a VERY good reason
why this shouldn't happen should be immediately
forthcoming from PerthIMC.

If Darwin Indymedia is not handed back to it's
legitimate collective and no proper reason for such
inaction forthcoming, it will be taken that something
far more serious than simple error of
judgement/communication is at play here and further
more serious steps will be taken to ensure an
appropriate and just outcome.

I look forward to a speedy resolution to what
has been a distracting, confusing, frustrating but
nonetheless educational situation.
